Texas is known for a lot of things, but fall leaves aren’t one of them. However, being the amazing state that we are, we actually DO have several opportunities to bask in the beauty of fall right here at home. Find the best places to go to enjoy fall colors in Texas.

Garner State Park
To the west of San Antonio you’ll discover trees adorned in leaves of every brilliant fall color. Cypress and oak trees flank the Frio River, providing picture perfect viewing.

Lost Maples State Natural Area
Hike, fish, camp and spend as much time as you want enjoying what has become Texas’s most popular location for enjoying the splendor of autumn. Uvalde bigtooth maples are aflame with red and golden leaves, offering a spectacular show at this park northwest of San Antonio.

Guadalupe River State Park
Traditionally known for being a popular swimming hole, this state park north of San Antonio is ideal for getting a gander at a wide variety of fall leaves. Sycamores, sumacs, bald cypress, and cottonwoods provide dazzling displays of red, orange, and yellow leaves.

Daingerfield State Park
Situated in the piney woods of northeast Texas, this park is glowing with the burning embers of fall color. Oak, maple, and sweetgum trees show off their exquisite beauty, bejeweled in flaming reds and glowing golds.

The otherworldly bald cypress trees rising above the water create a unique, almost mystical atmosphere that every Texan should experience. Add the fiery colors of fall, and visitors are in for an extraordinary treat.
